LIBRARY INFORMATION SERVICES
The library, located on the 4th floor of the Cochran School of Nursing in the Andrus Pavilion at St. John’s Riverside Hospital, serves as a major point of reference for all student course materials and research work. Resources in the areas of nursing, medicine, allied health and general education are made available, as well as a wide range of topics such as nursing skills, nursing trends and research, medical research, and current events as they relate to the health care environment. Library staff is available to assist with research, library instruction, circulation of library materials, and the use of a variety of audiovisual and electronic resources.
In order for the library staff to identify its patrons and track materials that are circulated from the library collection, we ask all patrons to complete a Library Membership Application. Application forms for Cochran students and faculty are available at the medical library or online via the Cochran School of Nursing website. (Click “forms” on the left-hand side menu on the library webpage).
Library books and CD-ROMs may be loaned out for 2 weeks (14 days) with one renewal for an additional 2 weeks. A fine of 25 cents, per day will be charged for each item that is overdue. We ask that all patrons make every attempt to return library materials in a timely manner as it deprives others of their use. Renewals are allowed in person, by telephone or by logging into the ¹online catalog. Reference books, ²videos, and journals, cannot be checked out of the library.
Reserves may be placed for patrons on items that are currently checked out. Patrons will be placed on a reserve list on a first-come-first-serve basis. When the items that have been placed on reserve are returned to the library, the requesting patron will be contacted. Reserved items will remain at the reference desk for one week. If reserves are not retrieved within that time, they will go to the next patron on the reserve list.
